Play is the work of childhood.

Our Program

  • Gardening

We have a bountiful garden bed, fruit trees, and berry bushes on the property. The children learn where their food comes from, and aid in the planting, care, and harvesting in the garden. We compost on site, and have several rain barrels for water conservation.

  • Cooking

Cooking is a natural progression of our time in the garden. A fresh-cooked snack is made daily, and the children aid in the mixing, cutting, and baking. The smell of homemade baking wafts through the garden as the children play. We use fresh ingredients from the garden throughout the year.

  • Play

Free and joyful play is the heart of early childhood. Our indoor play space is designed to facilitate imaginative play and is filled with toys and exploration centers for endless fun and learning. Our outdoor nature playground has a forest feel, with a dry creek bed, footbridges, tree swings, stumps for jumping and sitting, sand boxes, and a large grassy space for all kinds of play.

  • Circle

Each morning we gather together for circle time, where we sing, dance, and play movement games together. Through guided movement activities, the children build their gross motor and coordination skills. Songs and speech exercises help to build language development. And the best part of all, this learning happens while the children are joyfully singing and dancing with their friends!

  • Storyteliing

Stories are integral for fostering hearts and imaginations. We tell stories daily, alternating between fairy tales and seasonal stories from cultures around the world. Stories are told and retold throughout the week, and brought to life through puppet shows.

  • Seasonal Crafts & Events

Crafts change according to the season. Examples of crafts include beeswax modeling, painting, finger knitting, and making natural dyes from the garden to color fabrics. There are several events throughout the year where we may come together as a community, children and parents alike, to honor the seasons in joyful celebration. These events include a lantern walk in the fall, a winter spiral ceremony near the holidays, and a May Faire celebration in spring.
